To be honest, I'm surprised nothing worse happened! Imagine if the two of you had fallen overboard like that, haha. You'd have been blasted back up and wouldn't have had any time at all to brace yourselves for the impact!
We can borrow the ones on my bed, the ones on yours... Do you think we should get another set?
[i'm tempted to have them just fucking throw themselves into the sea first but I GUESS!!
After they get into the elevator to go steal pillows from their bedrooms, Wei Wuxian turns to face the keypad, but hm. After he does, she might notice that a jar seems to have appeared by her feet... Funky.]
[He's turning around to look at her RIGHT AS GRUNE REACHES TO PICK IT UP, THANKS GRUNE!! He can't even get out a "WAIT DON'T TOUCH THAT" before it's starting to disintegrate, the now stupidly familiar barrier shooting up around them.]
Ah, not again—!!
[Which is all he says before she's being swept into a memory.
From the perspective she's experiencing it from, there's a heavy dose of concern - not enough to be panic, but definitely a tense and taught worry. The situation is still under control, even as malicious, resentful energy sits heavy in the air, swirls around her, slides easily over her skin and hair like it's at home being by her side.
She expertly manipulates the energy around her, and despite her exhaustion and concerns, manages to push back and subdue the raging resentful energy coming from the living corpse in front of her. When she hears him speak - young master Wei - with such clarity, devoid of the madness of a mindless ferocious corpse, it's a wave of relief that knocks through her instead.]
when it ends, grune only blink a few times as she tries to wrap her head around what she just witnessed. it was a lot to take in, especially considering she literally knew zero wwx lore until this very moment which is very funny. ]
Oh... you did it?
[ she has no idea what he just did. what was that. zombie tamer. ]
[Welcome to the tip of the wwx lore iceberg, Grune... It's a wild ride.]
Ah-- [WELL. YEAH. Yeah he did. He shakes his head a little, before clearing his throat.]
Yep! [JUST YEP. But since Grune is Grune, he'll bother explaining a little more:] That was my dear Wen Ning. Had to work quite a bit to wake him up, but it all ended up fine.
[ anyway. memory time. the setting looks odd, and wwx will get the sense that this is a place that's rather special, even if he doesn't know why. the only other person there is a woman, and she seems to be in a conversation with the person he's seeing this as.
"You are only delaying the invetiable, Grune. This will do nothing," says the woman in black.
"It will do enough," says who is presumably grune. except... she doesn't sound like grune. the usual airy monotone is replaced by a more stern, professional tone that would be hard to recognize if grune's name wasn't mentioned before.
"Then you too shall return to nothing."
what proceeds is a battle, and i don't have a video for this so i'm crying, but it's very Magic, probably, aki i'm crying. in the end, the person whose perspective it is wins the battle, and she leaves the other woman trapped in this place. but wwx will start to feel weak... and like his memory is slipping more and more until...
[wow now he feels like an asshole for just assuming grune was a natural airhead instead of a victim of bimbofication
It's a terrible sensation - that feeling of his memories slipping farther and farther away, try as he might to keep hold of them. The battle isn't unfamiliar in every way, at least, even if he hadn't recognized the particular spells being used or the person standing before him that he had been so determined to fight. But that? That sense of loss? Deeply unsettling, to say the least.
There's a moment or two of silence as he regains his bearings once the memory fades, his own sense of self and awareness flooding back in instead. The look he gives Grune is difficult.]
He's also at a loss, though! For once! Rare moments when his motormouth actually shuts up! He's scrutinizing her expression carefully as the barrier dissolves around them and the door to the second floor finally opens with a ding!]

I could see a little... but then when we moved too suddenly, or took a left turn, it'll be impossible.

she taps her chin. ]
Perhaps we can stuff the costume with pillows?
no subject
Well! We could always try. Couldn't hurt as long as we're well-prepared!
[ARE THEY, THOUGH.]

[ when will they ever need to launch a fake donkey for any reason ]
no subject
Also, he's just gesturing for her to follow??]
Let's go fetch some pillows, then!

[ please let them find an item before they actually attempt this ]

[ grune's main weapon is fucking jars so she just
immediately kneels to pick it up because maybe she can hit someone with it ]

grune looks back down, as if another jar will suddenly appear out of nowhere? none does not. ]
I hope he's getting along with you all.

Also yeah tragically no Emperor's Smile, he could really use some?? Their friend the barrier is still hanging out, though.]
Oh, yes! Wen Ning is the sweetest fierce corpse you could ever meet. Wouldn't harm a fly!

Was that normal?

[But like, every time it happened lots of people died SO THERE'S THAT. It's fine.]

no subject
Her name is Schwartz. I have to fight her, I think...?
[ it's still mostly a blank, though, especially the reason why.
but this is still a lot more than she knew before. ]
I think we've been at it for a long time.
no subject
A long time? [Well. Her profile does simply say "she forgot" as her age.]
How long...? And do you remember why you needed to fight her? That looked like the end of a fight, though.
[How can they still fight if Grune can't remember shit anyway, hm. Bad.]
no subject
[ his concerns are all very real and valid. ]
I'm not... really sure why? Maybe it'll come back to me... but I think she's doing something bad. Probably.
